Treatments to Prevent Acne Scars

The occasional zit, while annoying and unsightly, is nothing to worry about.  When left along, it will eventually go away.  At least, that is the case for most people.  Then there are those who have a much worse acne problem.

The zits just keep coming in and they take forever to go away.  In this case, you may find that your face is starting to be covered in zits.  This may even extend to your neck, shoulders and back.  Not only is this unsightly and often painful, it can also cause permanent problems for you.  People who have such a terrible acne problem often find that those pimples are leaving scars.  These scars can cover someone's face.  If you are noticing your acne getting particularly bad, there are ways that you can prevent this from happening.  All you need to know is how to treat acne.  Then you can apply it and finally get rid of that mess.

Before you start on any medications, there are some things that you can do now in order to prevent acne scars.  For one thing, you need to leave your face alone.  it can be really tempting to pick at your acne or to try and pop the pimples.  While this may be satisfying at the time, you are actually creating broken skin that can turn into scars.  This is one of the main reasons why people scar from acne in the first place.  Instead, just let your pimples be.  If they look particularly bad, you can settle the swelling by laying a hot, damp towel on your face or wherever the affected area is.  This will diminish the puffiness and red coloring around the pimple.  Next, it is on to treatment.

You will find when you learn more about how to treat acne that there are actually many ways that you can fix your problem.  For instance, there are topical bactericidals that work well for a lot of people.  Unfortunately, this cream or gel works best for people with only mild or moderate cases of acne.  If your acne is bad enough to leave facial scars, this treatment may not be enough for you.  If you want to raise your chances of success though, you could pair it up with another treatment.  This has been known to raise the effectiveness.

Some of the worst acne is caused by a bacterial infection. If you notice your pimples getting large and red, this is a good sign that you have one of these infections.  If that's the case, it's time to take an antibiotic.  Antibiotics work to clear up infections, so they are perfect for this purpose.  You can either use a topical antibiotic or an oral one.  There are benefits to both of these.  Topical antibiotics have much less side effects, but they are also harder to use when your acne covers a large area.  Keep this in mind when you are choosing a treatment.

These are the many ways that you can treat your acne, and there are even more than this.  If over the counter remedies aren't working for you, you should get in touch with your doctor.  They will be able to tell what you need by having a look at you.  They can also prescribe medications that work better for people with bad acne.  With this help, you will not only clear up your skin, but you will lessen the chance of acne scars.  Acne isn't permanent, but the scars left behind from poor treatment can be.  Always take care of your skin, as it will make you feel a lot better.
